The world has a way of ignoring our honest efforts and minor accomplishments while all along never letting us or others forget our failures or short coming. So thorough are they with their character assassinations and eagerness to point the finger that you sometimes find that the only time you hear anything good about yourself is when you say it. And the more you say it, the more you like what you hear. We may have a pat on the back coming, a “that a boy” may be well deserved, there’s even the possibly that some form of public acknowledgement may be in order, but the question is;
Who’s been writing your headlines?
Are we humbling ourselves before God and allowing him to exalt us before men, or are we helping him out by writing our own headlines. We must continually examine ourselves and walk in the grace unto which we were called and saved. As we continue to renew our minds and grow in sanctification we will begin to understand that being humble is not holding our heads down while people say good things about us, but it’s not holding our heads up while we do.
