The Beliefs of Children

What does it mean for a child to stand up for their right to believe. To believe that Mary the girl that sits two desks behind her in sixth grade, has just given her better advice about one of life's particulars than you. What is being taught when my 16 yr old son says he believes that going to school is a waste of his time, and values the nothingness above all else. Many a child believes video games, drugs, sex, liquor, respect, existence of a moral law, a law giver are just beliefs and not "things". So inherently they hold no value because you can believe what you want. Our generation is at an impasse "Subjectivity vs. Objectivity". Relativism is trying to rule the day. The lessons we should be learning from "the beliefs of our children" is what do "we" believe.
